Just as we’re committed to educating students, the Frick strives to serve as a dynamic resource for educators throughout the community. Whether teachers are hoping to earn continuing education hours, gather inspiration and lesson plan ideas, network with colleagues, or simply enrich their own knowledge, the Frick offers teachers a range of learning experiences that make return visits feel inevitable. Presented in a variety of formats ranging from one- to two-day workshops to open house sessions, Frick teacher programs are interactive, standards-based explorations into themes in art, history and pedagogy that invite participants to engage, connect, and create.
This workshop immerses educators in The Frick Art Museum exhibition Van Gogh, Monet, Degas: The Mellon Collection of French Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and its fascinating connections to Pittsburgh. Teachers engage in classroom-ready literacy building activities using Impressionist works. Worth five Act 48 activity hours; teachers have the option to earn an additional five Act 48 activity hours for in-school follow-up and assessment.
